Union jacks and bunting bedecked Lancaster’s streets today as the city welcomed Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her first visit in over 15 years. FGH front-line staff were at hand to ensure that the royal visit went off without a hitch. FGH Security deployed 100 frontline staff members: security supervisors, security operatives and stewards to ensure the safety of the members of the public and management of the crowds.
The Queen arrived in Lancaster shortly before 10:00 by the royal train, with her first stop taking her to Lancaster castle to view a performance of Richard II. The castle was accessible by invite only but crowds gathered at the official viewing areas around the city to catch a glimpse of the Royal visitor. Roads around the city centre were closed to make way for the royal cortège as the public lined the route of the procession out of the city. Alex Redman, FGH Operations Manager, described the atmosphere around the streets of Lancaster today as “celebratory and patriotic”. “This is an extremely prestigious event for FGH and our City, attracting national coverage; an ideal opportunity to show the UK why we are the best events team in the country. I would like to thank all the staff involved in the day for their professionalism and cheeriness despite the rain and the early start.”
