On Wednesday 7th & Thursday 8th August 2019 our friendly and welcoming team ensured the safe entry of 50,000 customers to Boomtown Fair 2019.
Festival-goers from across the country attended the event based at the Matterley Estate in Hampshire to see more than 500 artists perform across 27 main stages and visit 80 unique street venues. Boomtown headliners this year included The Streets, Lauryn Hill, Chase & Status, Slaves & UB40. Since the festival’s beginnings in 2009, the event has grown from 1,000 to 50,000 capacity making it one of the fastest-growing festivals; next year’s festival is expected to see over 70,000 attendees with FGH forming a key part of the security provision.
Our search teams proudly monitored the ingress to the site. We deployed over 200 SIA trained team members to control the crowd safely through gates, the pace of entry and ceasing prohibited items; keeping people safe and making sure everyone passing through had an incredible experience. To achieve our goals the team worked closely with local police, event organisers, medical teams and crew whilst braving the torrential downpours, gales and lightning which had forced many festivals and events across the UK to cancel. This was our 3rd year at Boomtown Fair and we put a lot of time into ensuring that our staff briefings and deployment patterns met requirements to add real value to the event. As usual, our team excelled and went above and beyond by being the perfect first point of contact for customers, this has been confirmed by both client and customer feedback.
Boomtown Fair North Gate Manager Dave Hassall said, “Boomtown is a really unique festival which requires really unique security delivery. It is a really satisfying event to secure and work. The fact we have travelled so far and are asked to do this job every year is a testament to the high standards we have at FGH and a message to the wider industry of the calibre of our staff.”
