Giant Spectacular 2018

3 minutes reading time.

This weekend we closed out our festival season by keeping over a million people safe at the Giants Spectacular in Liverpool. According to Liverpool City Council’s estimates over a million people visited the city this weekend to see one of the world’s most unique artistic performances. The event called Liverpool’s Dream, led by the French arts company Royal Deluxe was the third and final event in Liverpool. The one of a kind spectacle featured a Little Boy Giant, a Big Giant and Xolo the dog adventuring through the streets across four days. As you can imagine an event of this nature requires a very detailed level of planning and we have worked closely in partnership with Liverpool City Council for months leading up to the event after being successful in a very competitive tender process.

Our SIA Licenced security teams and stewards oversaw the security of the parade, the Giants, the Lilliputians and the safety of the visiting crowds which came out in force to line the streets. This created its own unique set of crowd management considerations combining asset protection, crowd dynamics, fluid movement of the deployment as staff moved through the city with The Giants and also ensuring that people could still interact with the performance.

The Big Giant

Amy Stanley, Operations Manager at Liverpool Giants said, “I have to say the entire team worked incredibly hard at Liverpool Giants, and it was humbling to be a part of such an incredible event. It was fantastic to see everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. I can’t put it into words how proud I am of the team.”

Lewis Walsh, Head of Security at Liverpool Giants said, “FGH Security are extremely proud to be part of such a fantastic event as The Giants. The months of planning by all agencies concerned delivered a faultless operation and ensured that that all attending the weekend’s events were kept safe. Our team on the ground worked tirelessly and enjoyed every minute of being part of such a fantastic event.”

Team FGH

This was the final festival of the year for FGH Security. Some twenty three events have been successfully planned and delivered to become the biggest summer in the company’s history. 2018 has also had some of the busiest days when deploying nearly 500 staff to various events, venues and festivals. Take a look at some pictures from the event below. Don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss security and crowd management requirements for your event.
