HFest – Supporting Our Wounded Troops & Veterans

2 minutes reading time | 3rd September 2019

From Friday 30th to Saturday 31st August, FGH Security proudly supported HFest in Exmouth, Devon.

HFest 2019 is a family orientated outdoor music festival which brings the friends and family of our wounded Service personnel together with the Exmouth community, to celebrate the power of music and the hugely important role it can play in recovery and rehabilitation. HFest hailed from the Hasler music therapy project, PROJECT ROCK, where a passionate group of injured and rehabilitating Marines and Sailors from Hasler formed a band and the first HFest was born!

We deployed a team of SIA Licenced security professionals to oversee the charity event which raised money for The Royal Marines Charity, whose work involves supporting Marines and their Families to overcome challenges including life-changing injury, illness and mental health conditions. The event also supports Rock 2 Recovery which helps connect servicemen, veterans and families to appropriate mental health professionals, NSRC Hasler, a recovery centre which administers bespoke pathways for the most complex and long-term wounded of the service, Gabriel’s Friends, who deliver essential music therapy to wounded troops and Livewire Youth, who support young people through music and youth work.

Approximately 1000 people came through the gates which opened 1:30pm on Friday for two days of beer, music and camping on beautiful farmland adjoining the banks of the River Exe. The atmosphere was very relaxed allowing our team and festival-goers alike to enjoy the unique festival.

HFest’s line-up this year included. The Royal Marines Band, One Foot In The Groove, Trigger Happy and Filta and other acts across 2 stages. Other activities included; Tug of War Challenges, Festyaoke and a Children’s village.

Since returning our team have had fantastic a review, a spokesperson from HFest said, “Thank you Team FGH! You were so professional and courteous throughout, the event couldn’t have so successfully raised the profile of and supported our troops without you!”
