Our SIA Course is aimed at anyone wanting to work as a Security Guard in the UK. Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all Security Guards must hold a license to practice issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The course covers all aspects of the security industry including, customer service, the SIA and licensing, health and safety, first sid, searching procedures, the law, drugs, reporting procedures, strategies to deal with conflict, counter terrorism awareness and strategies to escape an attacker. This exciting course will equip you with the skills needed to pursue a successful career in the Private Security Industry.

Breakdown of daily learnings:

Day one of the SIA Course includes a FREE EFAW qualification, typically valued at £99. This course covers the basics of first aid provision and will enable you to deliver first aid safely, both in and outside of work. Students will learn the roles and responsibilities of a first aider; how to deal with an unresponsive casualty, manage external bleeding, assess first aid incidents, and much more. This is a separate qualification to the BIIAB Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry and you will receive a separate RQF Certificate.

Day 2 – Working in the Private Security Industry

On day two of your course forms an overview of what it means to work in the private security industry in the UK. Candidates learn about fire safety and emergency procedures and how best to enact them and health and safety as a security operative. You will also be taught communications best practices, and using radios. This is in addition to content covering the safeguarding of vulnerable people and counter-terrorism awareness, explicitly students will learn how private security can be a key barrier in the prevention of terrorism.

Day 3 – Working as a Security Officer

Day three of the course covers more detail about the role of a Security Officer, including licencing and the legalities of the role. Students are taught how to manage customer expectations, including searching and when it is appropriate to remove a tresspasser.

Day 4 – Conflict Management

Day four of the course combines practical with theory as candidates are taught the theories that underpin conflict management and why it is a key tool in any Security officers’s arsenal. You will be taught de-escalation and how to defuse situations using positive communication. This is then enacted through scenarios based on real-life situations our trainers have faced themselves, to provide an insight into what it is like to work front line as a Security Officer.

Day 5 – Assessment Day

The term ‘assessment day’ may sound daunting, but it is nothing to worry about, our trainers will make sure you are ready and confident before you sit any assessments. The assessments are based on the content of the previous three days, which include a mixture of multiple-choice exams, filmed assessments on searching, the use of communication devices and conflict management and a written assessment in which you will be writing an incident report. FGH Training is an inclusive training provider and adept at making reasonable adjustments for students with additional learning needs.
