Above is Amy Stanley, giving a brief and leading a team of 77 crowd management professionals at one of the worlds’ best festivals last week. Massive crowd numbers to deal with (like about 100,000 in her vicinity at peak times), yet she always takes it in her stride.
Amy started with FGH as the “Office Apprentice” back in 2012. She was only 16 years old! Days back then consisted of running to the shop for coffee and milk, cleaning up, filing the momentous amount of paperwork that we (used to) produce, and sending out letters when we hadn’t quite learnt the magic of emails.
A year into the job and she was shadowing other people; it ranged from working with the vetting officer, to helping organise last minute shifts. Even though she was always loved to sit in the operations room, she pushed through level 2 in Business Administration, then level 3 in Business Administration.
She turned 18 and all she wanted for her birthday was a four-day training course and an SIA license! Itching to get out on the front line she was like a duck to water. At 19 she was supervising small deployments with ease and sat level 3 Supervisor training. At 20 she started to get more and more involved with festivals. Next thing you know she was flown to Dublin, on her own, to complete her Level 5 Crowd Science Certificate!
Progressing to Assistant Operations Manager and at 21 taking the full reigns of her own team and deploying to larger events and festivals as Assistant Security Manager.
She was Head of Security for some 10,000 capacity festivals at the age of 22!!! Still only 23 years young, in the past 12 months highlights have included leading the Liverpool Giants Parade with an audience of 1.3m people over the event and the LFC Homecoming Parade with another audience of 750,000!
Still studying for more qualifications, Amy has achieved so much and absolutely personifies our value of “Be Great Today, Better Tomorrow”. She is leading the way for her age.
As absolute asset to the team, a mentor to many, a rock to others, a role model for all to follow. We know there are even more amazing things to come and cannot wait to see where the next 7 years take her! Top work Amy and please keep it up – you’re amazing!
