The SIA Business Licence and the impact on companies dealing with security suppliers

From 6 April 2015 all regulated security businesses will need to hold an SIA Business Licence. The SIA Business Licence will be a requirement for all businesses that provide licensable individuals in the United Kingdom. This means that from that date on-wards if the company that provides your current security staff does not have a licence they will be operating illegally

This requirement will apply to all companies, businesses and even sole traders regardless size (a small team of Door Supervisors working solely for one venue will require a licence) and even covers sub-contracting work.

Peter Harrison (Managing Director) currently sits on the SIA sub-group which has helped to bring these measures into place and has formed a key role in their development. “The SIA Business Licence is another good move by the Government and the licensed security industry as a whole to create more accountability, better practices and give customers the assurance that they are dealing with a reputable business that is working within the law”, said Peter.

As part of the Business Licencing process all companies will be fully audited to a number of strict standard that they will be required to meet if they wish to continue providing staff and/or services. FGH have already exceeded all of these proposed standards and are ready to gain a full immediately when the scheme is introduced.
